Senate Commerce Committee Postpones FCC Reform Hearing


The Senate Commerce Committee won't hold a Federal Communications Commission reform hearing next week after all.

The committee had scheduled the hearing for Wednesday, April 22, but said Friday it was postponing the hearing, though it provided not informatoin on when it might be rescheduled.

Communications Subcommittee chairman Kohn Kerry (D-Mass.) has said looking into reforming the FCC is on his subcommittee's to-do list.

The FCC came under heavy criticism for its management under formerf FCC chairman Kevin Martin. Under acting chairman Michael Copps, Democratic and Republican commissioners alike have praised a more open and collegial style that includes easier access to information from bureas and weekly meetings.
