The Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition and Business Rights has set
two dates for hearings on proposed mergers in the cable and direct-broadcast
satellite industries.

On March 6, the panel will review the $25.8 billion merger between EchoStar
Communications Corp. and DirecTV Inc. Both EchoStar chairman and CEO Charlie
Ergen and DirecTV chairman and CEO Eddy Hartenstein are scheduled to
testify.

On April 10, the panel is slated to review the $72 billion merger between
AT&T Broadband and Comcast Corp. No witnesses have been scheduled, but it's
likely that AT&T Corp. chairman and CEO C. Michael Armstrong and Comcast
president Brian Roberts will be invited to appear.

The Senate panel is headed by Herb Kohl (D-Wis.). The senior Republican is
Mike DeWine (R-Ohio).
