The Weather Channel posted its biggest ratings month in history for September, AP reported.
The network also posted a single-day record, reaching 1.9 million households Sept. 15, the day before Hurricane Ivan made landfall. The next day, TWC beat all other news channels, including Cable News Network and Fox News Channel.
TWC also posted a weekly ratings record Aug. 31-Sept. 5, when Hurricane Frances hit Florida's east coast. The network’s third-quarter ratings were 43% higher compared with the previous-year period.
"This was a history-making event from a weather perspective and, for The Weather Channel, it was a record-breaking ratings season," general manager Terry Connelly told AP.
