Service Electric Taps BigBand

Service Electric Cable TV Inc. will use BigBand Networks Inc.’s “BMR1200 Broadband Multimedia Service Router” to roll out digital simulcasting in its Pennsylvania systems.

The cable company will use gigabit-Ethernet technology to roll out digital simulcast and connect multiple Service Electric systems, including two primary headends.

The BigBand BMR preps digital signals for gigabit-Ethernet transport, performing dejittering functions to assure video quality after transport.

Service Electric plans to consolidate digital ad servers and transport advertisements to edge-based BMRs that will perform splicing based on the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers’ 30 and 35 standards.
