Discovery Times Channel will debut Times Seven Saturday, June 4 at 7 p.m. (EST/PST), the network said Wednesday.
With help from The New York Times and Canadian Broadcasting Corp., the four weekly one-hour programs will take “a fresh approach to the news of the day, with an emphasis on reporting from the field,” Discovery Times said.
CBC journalist Ian Hanomansing will host the show, which will be divided into five distinct categories: “Cover Story,” “Enterprise,” “Science & Medicine,” “Arts & Culture” and “Op-Ed.”
“Times Seven takes a documentary approach to the news, revealing the characters and stories in the news and trends of the week,” Discovery Times senior vice president and general manager Vivian Schiller said in a prepared statement. “It’s just one more way that Discovery Times brings The New York Times’ journalistic excellence to our viewers.”
