New York -- Home Box Office announced Friday that is was suspending
production of Sex and the City as series star Sarah Jessica Parker
disclosed she is pregnant.
The premium service's second-highest-rated original series was in the middle
of producing the first two episodes of its fifth season, according to a network
In a release, the network, which had been slated to launch Sex's new
series in June, announced it is tentatively slated to bow in July.
It was unclear at press time, however, whether storylines involving Parker's
character, sex relationship columnist Carrie Bradshaw, would be scripted to
reflect Parker's real-life family way.
Some observers are also wondering if the fifth season could be further
HBO officials said a decision regarding the series' direction could be
announced by mid-week.
