Shark Week Delivers Record Ratings

Discovery's long-running, annual programming stunt has proved to be a continued success, as the debut of this year's "Shark Week" delivered 3.64 million total viewers for the network. The ratings, which also include a 2.27 P25-54 rating, mark the highest "Shark Week" has earned Discovery throughout its 27 years.  

The stunt's highest-rated program on Sunday, August 10 was Shark of Darkness: Wrath of Submarine, which aired in the 9 p.m. time slot and delivered an average of 3.825 million viewers.

Discovery is also reporting successful social media metrics in response to this year's Shark Week, with the programming lineup landing a trending topic on Facebook throughout the day Sunday and with 11 tending topics on Twitter during primetime.
