Showtime Renews 'Homeland,’ ‘The Affair’

Both Drama Series Will Return in 2015

Showtime has renewed two of its popular drama series, Homeland and The Affair, for new seasons, according to network officials.

Homeland will return for a fifth season in 2015 with 12 episodes. The revamped, Emmy Award-winning series is averaging 6 million viewers across several platforms in its current season four run, according to Showtime. 

The Affair (pictured) will return will return for a sophomore campaign in 2015 with 10 episodes, said the network.  The series is currently averaging 3.9 million viewers a week across various platforms. Approximately 87% of The Affair’s audience is time-shifted, putting it on track to be Showtime's most time-shifted series ever, according to the network.

“In its fourth season, Homeland has brilliantly reinvented itself.  It continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of The Affair,” said David Nevins, president, Showtime Networks in a statement. “With thought-provoking, relevant and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced, dissected and much debated week after week.  We’re excited to see more from these complex shows in 2015.”
