Showtime didn’t waste anytime renewing its freshman drama series Billions after the show posted big ratings numbers in its premiere earlier this month.

The series, which stars Paul Giamatti and Damian Lewis as powerful opposing characters in the world of New York politics, drew 6.5 million viewers across multiple platforms for its Jan. 17 premiere episode – the best series performance ever for a new Showtime original series.

Billions is created, written and executive produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (Ocean's Thirteen, Rounders) as well as Andrew Ross Sorkin (Too Big To Fail).
