Showtime Renews 'Nurse Jackie,' 'United States Of Tara'

Less than a week after their second season debuts, Showtime has renewed two of its dramedy hits, Nurse Jackie and United States Of Tara, for a third season.

Nurse Jackie, starring former Sopranos star Edie Falco as a morally challenged emergency room nurse, delivered 1.08 million viewers in its March 21 season two premiere -- up 8% over the 1.0 million premiere of season one and up 9% from the 992,000 for the show's season one finale, said the network.

United States Of Tara, featuring Emmy-Award winning actress Toni Collette as a woman with multiple personalities, drew 1.165 million combined viewers for its premiere episode and a repeat telecast, on par with its season-one premiere, Showtime said.

"Showtime is enormously proud of these two series starring two of the
best actresses working today," said Robert Greenblatt, President of
Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. in a statement. "Both are iconic
shows for our brand and our thanks to the dedicated producers, cast, and
crews who work so hard to make them so great."
