Showtime will bring back 1990s drama series Twin Peaks in 2016 as a limited series, the network said Monday.

Showtime’s rekindling of Twin Peaks, which aired on ABC for two seasons in the 1990s, will include original series creators and executive producers David Lynch and Mark Frost, who will write and produce all nine episodes of the limited series, said network officials.

Showtime will begin its new episodes of Twin Peaks, which followed the investigation of the murder in a small Washington town of its popular homecoming queen Laura Palmer, 25 years after the event of the season two finale.

“What more can I say – Twin Peaks with David Lynch and Mark Frost on Showtime in 2016!” said Showtime Networks president David Nevins. “To quote Agent Cooper, ‘I have no idea where this will lead us, but I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange.’”

Showtime will re-air the first two seasons of Twin Peaks, in advance of the new episodes, although the airdates have yet to be set.
