Sigma Designs Inc., an Internet-protocol-TV and HD chip-set manufacturer, posted increases in both revenue and net profit for its third quarter ending Oct. 31.
The vendor posted net profit of $1.95 million on revenue of $8.5 million, compared with a net profit for $525,000 on revenue of $7.7 million in the year-earlier period.
Sigma is collaborating with Microsoft Corp. to develop IPTV solutions for telcos. Sigma’s chip sets will be in the Motorola Inc. IPTV set-tops SBC Communications Inc. is buying, and Sigma has demonstrated integration of those chip sets inside IPTV boxes from Scientific-Atlanta Inc., which also has a piece of the SBC set-top contract.
Sigma’s “SMP8634” media processor chip set is its flagship IPTV product.
