Silverman Upped at ABC Cable Networks

Moving over from ABC Family, Mark Silverman has been named to the newly created position of senior vice president and general manager at ABC Cable Networks Group, officials said Thursday.

Most recently, Silverman was senior VP and GM of ABC Family. But last week, Paul Lee, CEO of BBC America, was hired to become president of ABC Family, replacing Angela Shapiro, who left last year.

Silverman had effectively been managing ABC Family’s day-to-day operations since Shapiro’s exit.

Silverman will report to Anne Sweeney, co-chairman of The Walt Disney Co.’s Media Networks unit.
