Six Raycom Stations Are Dark on Cox Systems

MSO's Subs in Five States Are Impacted by Retrans Disconnect

Eight Raycom-owned stations in six markets are dark for Cox Communications subscribers, as the media company and cable operator have failed to reach a retransmission agreement.

Service has been disrupted in Tucson, Ariz., Cleveland, Baton Rouge and Lake Charles, La.,  and small slices of Richmond and Panama City, Fla.
Paul McTear, Raycom president and CEO, said it's Raycom's first retrans blackout in company history.
"We've signed up 180-plus cable, satellite and telephone company operators in the last 18 months," said McTear, "including several that are many times larger than Cox."
A Cox spokesperson did not immediately comment by presstime.

McTear said negotiations have been ongoing since October.
