Super Bowl viewers seeking other halftime options can turn to their Sky Angel.
The nationwide direct-to-home satellite system said Friday that it will air a half-hour special to be hosted by Sportsweek host Tom McGough.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro linebacker and Super Bowl veteran Robin Cole will co-host the special, which will feature Christian testimonies from some of 2004's biggest sports stars, including Trot Nixon, Curtis Martin, Curtis Joseph, Paul Azinger, Jason Schmidt, Michael Redd, Michael Peca, Mark Martin, Carlos Beltran, Jeff Gordon, Sammy Sosa, Ty Law, Markus Naslund, Bernie Williams, Tom Pernice Jr., Steve Smith, Billy Wagner, Mike Rupp, Trent Klatt, Jimmy Rollins, Michael Waltrip, Dikembe Mutombo, Troy Brown, John Olerud, Loren Roberts, Lance Berkman, Curtis Brown, Tim Salmon, Shane Doan, Willie Williams, Sean Casey, Derek Fisher, Glen Wesley, John Smoltz and Kyle Petty.
“Many Christians are planning on watching the Super Bowl but are looking for something more inspirational to watch during halftime,” Sky Angel vice president of programming Kathy Johnson said in a prepared statement.
“After last year's halftime-show incident, we understand people's desire for an alternative for their families and church members,” she added.
