Sling Latino Adds Two Local Broadcast Nets

Sling Latino, an OTT-TV Spanish-language service introduced in June, has added the broadcast feeds of Univision and UniMás, marking the first time Sling TV’s platform has offered live local broadcast channels.

Among other changes, Sling Latino has also added cartoon channel SupereÑe to its España and España Extra packs, which sell for $7 per month each. Sling TV has also updated the Sling Latino web site with features that let customers personalize the offering.

Sling TV has yet to offer local broadcast nets on its core $20 per month package, but company CEO Roger Lynch said at the recent Multichannel News/B&C Next TV Summit in New York that the OTT provider hopes to add them to the mix “when they’re ready.”

Dish Network has not released any new Sling TV sub numbers, but Dan Rayburn, EVP of StreamingMedia.com and principal analyst at Frost & Sullivan, surmised in this blog post that it has fewer than 500,000 based on data supplied by third-party vendors “who know what Sling TV’s traffic looks like.”
