Small Op to Tier ESPN

Tiny rural independent cable system ADA Cablevision in Boise, Idaho, will
place ESPN on an expanded-basic sports tier when the network's 20 percent
increase takes effect Aug. 1.

ADA owner Bill Tracy said the system, which has 50 subscribers, will offer a
new expanded-basic tier for ESPN and several other sports networks for an
as-yet-unset price. He added that his ESPN contract allows for carriage of the
network on an expanded-basic tier with less than 85 percent subscriber
penetration, even though his ESPN rate will skyrocket beyond the
$3-per-subscriber mark.

An ESPN spokeswoman said carriage of ESPN is only permitted on basic or
expanded-basic levels and tiering is not permissible.
