Smithsonian Channel To Air Martin Luther King Special

Smithsonian Channel will celebrate Black History Month with several shows, including a narration-free documentary that looks at the last days of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

MLK: The Assassination Tapes premieres Feb. 12 and features rare television and radio news accounts in the days leading to the April 4, 1968, assassination of the civil rights leader, according to network officials.

The documentary will also be accessed for free on multiple platforms beginning Feb. 12, including as well as on Smithsonian Channel's iPhone, Android and Nook apps, the company said.

Smithsonian Channel will also offer encore airings of original specials Seizing Justice: The Greensboro 4 and Black Wings as part of its Black History Month programming, said network officials.
