SNL Comes to Cingular Phones

Marking the first mobile deal for NBC’s legendary skit-comedy show, NBC Universal, Broadway Video Entertainment and Cingular Wireless announced Tuesday that Saturday Night Live content will be available exclusively to subscribers of the operator’s Cingular Video service.

Under the terms of the deal, Cingular will provide access to an “evolving” library of more than 100 video clips of 2-3 minutes each, from current and older SNL episodes, as well as some original content produced for Cingular Video. Financial terms weren’t disclosed.

Clips from the current season will appear on the Cingular Video service the day after SNL’s Saturday-night premiere. NBC also makes selected SNL clips available on its Web site after the show airs.

To see the SNL clips on their mobile phones, subscribers must purchase third-generation phones and sign up for Cingular’s $20-per-month Media Net Unlimited package, which currently includes video content from CNN, ESPN, The Weather Channel, E! Entertainment Television and Univision.
