SNY Celebrates UConn Women's Eighth Championship with Exclusive Coverage

Over the next couple of days, SNY will present a programming lineup that could be dubbed “Hail to the Huskies.”

The regional sports network, the official TV home to the UConn Huskies women’s basketball program, will feature live coverage of the program’s historic eighth national championship, tipping with the team’s arrival at Bradley International Airport at 3:30 p.m. on April 10. SNY this season supplanted Connecticut Public Television as the regional rights-holder to the women’s program as part of a four-year, $4.55 million deal.

SNY’s presentation, following UConn’s 93-60 demolition of Louisville in the April 9 championship game that enabled the school to tie Tennessee for the most women’s national titles, will include exclusive interviews with UConn head coach Geno Auriemma, players and other officials. Following the airport access, SNY UConn reporter Kerith Burke will join the team on the double-decker bus that will parade the team around the Storrs campus. There will also be one-on-one interviews outside of Gampel Pavilion.

The campus and airport content will also be integrated into SNY’s Geico SportsNite, which airs on April 10 from 10:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m.

Wrapping up the festivities on April 11 at 7 p.m., SNY will provide complete coverage of the 2012-13 campaign with an in-depth special titled UConn Women: A Championship Seasonpresented by People’s United Bank.  Featuring analysts Meghan Culmo and Kara Wolters, Burke and host Gary Apple, the show will provide viewers with behind-the-scenes footage of the season from start to finish, plus exclusive video and interview content from the championship celebration.
