SNY Dunks Ratings Gains WIth UConn Men's Hoops

Regional sports network SNY is scoring well with its coverage of UConn's men's basketball team in the Nutmeg State.
SNY, the official TV home3 to Huskies football and men's basketball, has averaged a 4.74 household rating in the Hartford-New Haven DMA, according to Nielsen data. That's up 4.4 % from last season, when the men's team's regional action was presented on WCTX and WTNH.
SNY's delivery was keyed by its Jan. 26 coverage of the Huskies' 76-68 win over the Marquette Golden Eagles, which posted a 6.87 rating in the aforementioned DMA, the men's program's top performance over the past two seasons, according to RSN officials. The Jan. 29 presentation of UConn-Louisville -- a 79-78, double overtime defeat at the hands of the Cardinals -- scored a 6.15 rating, the second best over that span.
All told, five of the SNY's team telecast have generated a 5.0 or better mark.
With the addition of the Huskies content, SNY has been able to fill in distribution gaps in the state, inluding a launch with Charter in Storrs, home to the university's main campus. Overall, SNY reaches some 12 million homes in its broadcast territory of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and northern Pennsylvania.
