SNY Scores Best Mets Season Opener Since 2008

The New York Mets got off to a good start on SNY, if not with their season opener at Citi Field.

The regional sports network posted a 4.05 household rating with its coverage of the club's Opening Day loss to the Washington Nationals on March 31, translating into 302,000 households in the New York DMA, according to Nielsen data. That marked SNY's highest-rated first-game telecast since the 2008 campaign. The extra-innings affair averaged 369,000 viewers, peaking with a 5.43 household rating and 405,000 Big Apple TV households.

It marked a 44% jump from the 2.82 rating for last year’s Mets-Padres season opener and was up 3% from the 3.95 for the Mets and Atlanta Braves in 2012.

The telecast was the highest-rated and most-watched daytime, weekday home opener ever for the Amazins on an RSN, surpassing SNY’s previously alluded to broadcast of the April 5, 2012 beginner against the Braves at Citi Field.
