Soap’s Latest Story Arc Elevates Petersen

Jori Petersen has been promoted to vice president, media relations for ABC Daytime and SoapNet.

In her new role, Petersen, who was serving as vice president, media relations of SoapNet, now will work closely with Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group, overseeing all strategic public relations efforts for the cable network, ABC Daytime and Buena Vista Productions.

“Jori is a strong, creative executive who has a proven ability to launch great campaigns, lead a team and brings a contagious excitement to this newly created position,” said Nicole Nichols, senior vice president, entertainment communications, Disney-ABC Television Group, to whom she will continue to report, in a statement.

During her tenure at SoapNet, Petersen was instrumental in the publicity launch of the network's most successful series, General Hospital: Night Shift, as well as other original programming such as I Wanna Be a Soap Star and The Fashionista Diaries. She also managed publicity efforts for SoapNet’s "Fantasy Soap League" and the channel’s Red Carpet Show at the Daytime Emmys.

Petersen joined the Disney-ABC Television group in 1998, as part of the Disney Channel media relations team.
