SOAPnet Sets Katrina PSAs


SOAPnet will premiere a series of public-service announcements Saturday featuring soap stars from the “Big Three” networks.

The PSAs -- which will be seen on the network and its Web site ( -- will focus on preparedness and encourage people to donate funds to the American Red Cross for those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

SOAPnet will also air Shelter from the Storm: A Concert for the Gulf Coast Friday at 8 p.m.

“The soap community is a compassionate and loyal group who feel compelled to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina,” SOAPnet general manager Deborah Blackwell said in a prepared statement.

Among those who will appear in the PSAs: Cameron Mathison (All My Children); Trent Dawson (As the World Turns); Deidre Hall, Drake Hogestyn, Ali Sweeney, Peter Reckell and Melissa Reeves (Days of Our Lives); Maurice Benard and Kelly Monaco (General Hospital); Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman (Guiding Light); Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa (formerly of All My Children) from Live with Regis and Kelly; Lisa Rinna and Ty Treadway (Soap Talk); Tony Danza (The Tony Danza Show); and Christian LeBlanc (Young and the Restless).
