SONICblue Sets Retail Plans

SONICblue Inc. said Thursday that it plans to bring the ReplayTV Inc.
digital-video recorder brand back to retail in the second half of this year.

By reducing the cost of producing the DVRs, the company will be able to
compete at retail without having to subsidize the hardware, chief technology
officer Andy Wolfe said.

The company plans to market more than one DVR model at retail this year,
including one that combines a DVR and DVD player in one set-top box, as well as
a stand-alone DVR, he added.

SONICblue has not yet disclosed suggested pricing or storage capacity for the
retail models.

The company has not publicly said whether it is considering a model that
would combine a DVR with a VCR or recordable DVD for long-term video storage,
Wolfe said.
