Spanish VOD Deal for Comcast, Fox Sports

Fox Sports en Español on Demand will be added to Comcast Corp.’s Comcast on Demand en Español video-on-demand service under terms of a deal announced Wednesday.

The programmer will contribute 10 hours per month to the MSO’s Spanish-language VOD offering, at no additional charge to subscribers.

The first 10 hours will include: the 1995 Copa America soccer match featuring the United States versus Mexico; the 2004 Copa Libertadores finals, featuring two matches between Argentina’s Boca Juniors and Colombia’s Once Caldas; the finals of the 2005 Copa de Campeones, featuring Costa Rica’s Saprissa and Mexico’s Pumas; and the 2005 Copa Libertadores second-round match, featuring Mexico’s Chivas of Guadalajara and Argentina’s San Lorenzo.

“By making these important sports and news events available at any time, we are giving our Hispanic communities greater choice and control of their entertainment experience and helping them to stay connected to their rich heritage,” Comcast senior director of multicultural video Mauro Panzera said in a prepared statement.
