Spielberg, Discovery To Chronicle Ground Zero Rebuild

Discovery Channel and Science Channel will team with filmmaker Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Television will mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a six-hour series Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero beginning Aug. 25.

Rising showcases the men and women determined to rebuild and restore the site of the World Trade Center attacks with the construction of the new, 104-story One World Trade Center.

The series also looks at the challenges of building four skyscrapers, a transportation hub, a museum and a memorial featuring the largest man-made waterfall in history on the site of the fallen towers.

Discovery will air the first three hours of the special on Aug. 25 and the concluding hours a week later on Sept. 1, said network officials Science will encore the special Aug. 28 and Sept. 4 and will re-air the entire six-hour special on Sept. 11.

"Discovery Channel is proud to be sharing this important story and transitional moment in the history of our country. With incredible access and deft storytelling, Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero captures a city and a country moving forward but never forgetting," said Debbie Myers, General Manager of Science Channel in a statement. "Sept. 11th is something we all share and Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero will be a touchstone for audiences to remember, reflect and look forward."
