Spike Scraps Bellator MMA PPV Event

Ortiz Injury Forces Fight Card To Basic Cable Channel

Spike TV has cancelled its Nov. 2 Rampage Jackson-Tito Ortiz mixed martial arts pay-per-view event due to an injury to Ortiz.

The Bellator-produced fight card will instead air on Spike TV with a main event featuring  Michael Chandler and former Bellator Champion Eddie Alvarez, said Spike officials. Ortiz reportedly suffered a fractured his neck, ending what would have been Spike TV’s first PPV event ever.

“I’ve said it since the day we announced the fight that Rampage vs. Tito was a fight I had wanted to see for years, and it’s unfortunately something I’m going to have to continue to wait to see,” said Bellator chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney in a statement. “After sitting down with our team and partners, the decision was obvious: Give the greatest MMA fans on earth this amazing show live and free on Spike."
