Spike TV Greenlights College Football Comedy Pilot

Spike TV Friday said it will begin production in February on a pilot called Blue Mountain State, a comedy that will “tackle the crazy antics of a big-time Midwestern college football program.”

The half-hour scripted pilot, which network officials said will be in the vein of the classic comedy film “Animal House,” will be produced by Varsity Pictures’ Brian Robbins (Norbit, Varsity Blues, Smallville), Sharla Sumpter-Bridgett and Lionsgate.

Robbins will direct the pilot which was written by Chris Romano and Eric Falconer (The Sarah Silverman Program, Always Sunny in Philadelphia).
