SpongeBob Telefilm Nets Nick 8.8 Million Viewers

Nickelodeon’s Nov. 12 original movie SpongeBob Atlantis SquarePantis performed swimmingly, drawing drew 8.8 million total viewers.

The movie generated the second highest tally for a Nickelodeon original film behind the 11.2 million viewers garnered by the July 2001 Rugrats: All Growed Up telepic.

, in which Spongebob’s discovery of an ancient medallion transports him and his friends to the legendary city of Atlantis, also played well across kids demos: 2 to 11 (4.8 million viewers), 6 to 11 (3.3 million) and tweens 9 to 14 (2.6 million).

Online, the “Atlantis SquarePantis” page on Nick.com has received 4.2 million visits since launching Oct. 17, while the The SpongeBob “Atlantis SquarePantis: Bus Rush” online game drew more than 2.7 million game plays since its Nov. 1 launch, tops for all Nick.com games during the period, according to the network.
