For the fourth quarter, Sportsman Channel has set a nice round target for its viewers: 100 shows.
The lineup, which executives at the hunting and fishing service call its strongest ever, features a host of returning series, as well as a quartet of new shows, two of which are produced by parent company and outdoor media powerhouse InterMedia Outdoors, Inc.
"With over 100 high-quality shows representing our three programming pillars of hunt, shoot and fish, we couldn't be more proud of our fourth quarter lineup," said Sportsman Channel president Willy Burkhardt in a statement. "We continue to provide sportsmen with an unrivaled viewer experience through a combination of popular, long-standing series such as Personal Defense TV and Patagonic Waters and dynamic, mold-breaking shows such as Arrow Affliction, Tactical Impact, Predator Nation and Wingshooting USA. With IMO's unparalleled programming resources, as well as original programming from dynamic independent producers, Sportsman continues to be the true sportsman's source for hunting, shooting and fishing programming, both in terms of quantity and quality."
Produced by IMO, Predator Nation will showcase man vs. beast, as award-winning host Fred Eichler travels the globe against predators at the top of the food chain, while putting himself in heart-pounding, dangerous situations. The series airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m., beginning Sept. 29.
Breaking The Surface is also from IMO's camp. The show follows the exploits of two of the finest female anglers in the world--Kim Bain-Moore and Diana Rudolph. The former is the first woman to ever compete in the 39-year history of the Bassmaster Classic, while long-rod expert Rudolph showcases her fly-fishing mastery. The Saturday series casts its line on Oct. 3 at 9: 30 p.m.
Elsewhere, Wingshooting USA is what Sportsman executives says encompasses the camaraderie of the hunt and then is a cross between Dog Whisperer and A River Runs Through It. Produced by Scott Linden Outdoors for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, the show focuses on the fun of wingshooting and the dogs that make it possible. It also has an interactive element, offering viewers the chance to "Win a Shot on the Show" for a youngster, or to support habitat and conservation issues by sending a ton of dog food to a breed rescue club. Wingshooting USA bows Oct. 3 at 11 p.m.
The day before at 7:30 p.m. Sportsman viewers can watch host Jon Brunson team with Chicago Bulls center Brad Miller on hunts from around the world on Country Boys Outdoors. From New Zealand to backyard Illinois bowhunting, the duo take viewers on one wild adventure after another. The series airs Fridays at 7:30 p.m. ET, beginning Oct. 2.
Elsewhere, the network, now available to some 17 million homes, will return the sophomore seasons of Tactical Impact, Arrow Affliction and Ice Guide on Thursdays (10 p.m.), Fridays (10:30 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 p.m.), respectively, as well as the fourth season of Personal Defense TV (Mondays at 10:30 p.m.) and the fifth campaign of Patagonic Waters (Saturdays at 8 p.m.)
