Sportsman Channel to Fire Off Weekday NRA Talk Show

As the White House awaits recommendations from a task force on guns headed by Vice President Biden, Sportsman Channel and the NRA have reached a deal under which the group’s talk radio show NRANEWS’ Cam & Company will air weekdays on the network.

Under an expanded partnership, financial terms of which were not disclosed, NRANEWS’ Cam & Company -- starting Jan. 15, the same day Biden will submit the task force report -- will air weekdays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. (ET) on Sportsman Channel, which counts some 30 million subscribers.

Hosted by Cam Edwards, and airing live from the NRANEWS Studios in Washington, D.C.,  the program will be the only news-talk series on television addressing issues vital to America’s more than 80 million sportsmen and sportswomen, according to channel officials.

The series Jan. 15 bow will air live from the SHOT (Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade) Show in Las Vegas, the largest and most comprehensive trade show for the professional shooting sports, hunting and law enforcement industries.

The announcement comes as part of expanded partnership between the NRA and Sportsman Channel, making the network the premier TV destination for NRA programming that also includes NRA’s Guns & Gold, and 3 Gun Nation sponsored by NRA Sports.

With national passions running high on the issue of firearms ownership and rights in America, the series launch is especially timely as it will provide a forum for facts, opinion, and editorial for the millions of Americans talking about the Second Amendment, public safety, personal protection, personal freedom, the role and limits of government, and the sportsmen lifestyle in general.

“This is an American revolution in talk TV,” said Gavin Harvey, CEO Sportsman Channel, in announcing the show's launch. “Cam Edwards will bring intelligence, insight, and perspective to vital issues and complicated topics -- live, every weekday -- that are being fumbled by uninformed instant experts on other broadcast and cable TV shows.”

Noted Wayne LaPierre, NRA executive vice president and CEO: “The partnership expansion of these two great American brands, the Sportsman Channel and the NRA, comes at a critical time in the history of preserving our Second Amendment freedom. Gun owners and all of today’s sportsmen and sportswomen must be fully informed on the issues around the Second Amendment, as well as the many topics and interests surrounding the sportsmen lifestyle. Sportsman Channel is giving their viewers and the nation a much-needed news platform for outdoor, hunting and shooting enthusiasts.”
