Sportsman Channel to Sponsor National Hunting and Fishing Day

The Sportsman Channel became an official sponsor of this year’s National Hunting and Fishing Day celebration, set for Sept. 22.

Congress formally appointed the annual observance in 1972 to commemorate the conservation benefits and leadership of hunters and anglers. The day quickly grew into the most effective grassroots campaign ever undertaken in promoting traditional outdoor sports and conservation.

Sportsman offered a generous sponsorship package that also includes promoting the day through all of the network’s various communications resources, producing a public-service announcement for television, hosting a National Hunting and Fishing Day public celebration at the company’s headquarters in Wisconsin and creating a marketing plan for affiliate stations to use in hosting their own events.

National Hunting and Fishing Day was founded and remains actively sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, but the holiday now has an official home at Wonders of Wildlife Museum. The Springfield, Mo., museum is the only hunting- and fishing-focused facility that’s both affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution and accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association.

Official sponsors of National Hunting and Fishing Day include Wonders of Wildlife, NSSF, Realtree, Baron Technology, National Wild Turkey Federation, Smith & Wesson, Bass Pro Shops, Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation, GunBroker.com, Field & Stream, Outdoor Life and Woolrich. A host of partners also lend support.
