Sprint Lands Another Cable VoIP Deal

Sprint Corp. said USA Cos. -- which serves 62,000 cable subscribers in California, Montana and Nebraska -- will use Sprint's backbone and other services to launch voice-over-Internet-protocol service.

The Kearney, Neb.-based MSO said the deal will allow it to roll out phone services without the cost of a telecommunications infrastructure.

“This enables us to launch voice services at the same pace as major cable players and better position USA Cos. to retain customers and attract new subscribers with the complete bundle of products that today's consumers desire," USA Cos. president Chris Hilliard said in a prepared statement.

The five-year deal comes on the heels of Sprint's deal with Time Warner Cable to help that MSO launch VoIP services.
