Sprout Adds 'Lazytown'

Pre-school channel Sprout is adding the international series LazyTown to its offerings.

The show will join Sprout's lineup in September in a deal that includes LazyTown series 1 & 2 and LazyTown Extra and showing LazyTown on video on demand.

SproutOnline.com also will feature a host of LazyTown games and activities.

Magnus Scheving, CEO and star of LazyTown, said in a release: "We're delighted to have a new U.S. broadcast partner and believe that Sprout is the ideal one for us. Their ethos of educating children in a fun way is perfectly in keeping with the LazyTown brand. We look forward to a bringing the LazyTown message of helping motivate children to lead a healthy lifestyle to a whole new audience of Sprout viewers."

LazyTown is a children's entertainment show that blends live action, puppets and computer animation to encourage kids to stay active. In this country, the Iceland-produced show has appeared on Nick Jr. and V-Me.
