Stanford wasn't the only winner Thursday night, as ESPN2's coverage of the Cardinal ending UConn's record winning streak scored the highest regular-season ratings for a women's basketball game in the programmer's history.
ESPN2's Dec. 30 telecast of the Cardinal's 71-59 triumph that broke the Huskies record 90-game winning skein notched a 1.5 metered market overnight rating, according to Nielsen. That topped the previous high of a 1.4 for the Connecticut/Duke game on Feb. 1, 2003.
The final 15 minutes of last night's telecast averaged a 3.1 rating, according to ESPN officials.
ESPN Classic will encore the game, in which the Cardinal extended its home winning streak at Maples Pavilion to 52 games, on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. (ET).
