Struggling satellite-broadband provider StarBand Communications Inc. has
launched a direct online-sales channel to boost its presence among
The McLean, Va.-based service is aiming for the 20 million residential and
small-business customers who do not have access to cable-modem or
digital-subscriber-line broadband connections.
Prospective customers can now go to www.StarBand.com or call a toll-free number
to sign up for service.
That complements the direct dealer network StarBand launched one year ago
with 2,500 retailers in the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin
"Together, StarBand's two sales channels -- retail partners and Web-site
sales -- provide a broader approach in reaching residential and small-office
customers looking for affordable, reliable high-speed satellite-Internet
services whether they purchase in person or online," vice president of sales and
marketing Howard Lossing said.
