Starz, Encore Serve Up Freeview To 42 Million Homes Over Thanksgiving Weekend

Some 42 million homes have extra reasons to be grateful this Thanskgiving: They will have access to a free preview of Starz and Encore programming throughout the holiday weekend.
Starz Entertainment will offer the Starz and Encore premium channels and their various multiplexes, along with HD on demand, 3D on demand and hundreds of titles on demand from Nov. 23 through Nov. 27, with availability of channels varying by distributor.
Among the distributors that have signed up for the freeview: DirecTV, Dish Network, Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-verse, plus a host of smaller providers.
Exclusive Starz movie titles and Starz original series available during the free preview include Kelsey Grammer-starrer Boss, Gnomeo & Juliet,Just Go With It, The Green Hornet and Tron: Legacy.
For its part, Encore is celebrating the 10th anniversary of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy with a marathon airing of The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King. The marathon will begin on Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. (ET) with the theatricals, plus more than two hours of additional content in extended special editions. The stunt extends through Sunday night.
