Starz InBlack Sets Films for Black History Month

Starz InBlack will air a movie from the decade of the week every day at 8 p.m. (EST/PST) to celebrate Black History Month.

“Our objective was to feature a diverse array of entertaining and enlightening programming that focuses on black cinema from the past four decades,” Starz Entertainment senior vice president of programming Stephan Shelanski said in a prepared statement. “With our vast library of films, we created a month-long presentation of some of the best films from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s and today.”

The network’s film lineup:

• From the 1970s: The Landlord (Feb. 5), A.K.A. Cassius Clay (Feb. 6), Cotton Comes toHarlem (Feb. 7), Black Mama, White Mama (Feb. 8), Black Caesar (Feb. 9), Scream Blacula Scream (Feb. 10) and They Call Me Mister Tibbs! (Feb. 11).

• From the 1980s: Bustin’ Loose (Feb. 12), School Daze (Feb. 13), Hollywood Shuffle (Feb. 14), The Brother from Another Planet (Feb. 15), Brewster’s Millions (Feb. 16), Driving Miss Daisy (Feb. 17) and Tap (Feb. 18).

• From the 1990s: The Five Heartbeats (Feb. 19), Beloved (Feb. 20), Fresh (Feb. 21), Crooklyn (Feb. 22), The Crying Game (Feb. 23), Enemy of the State (Feb. 24) and Eddie (Feb. 25).

• From 2000 on: Hitch (Feb. 26), Freedomland (Feb. 27), Are We There Yet? (Feb. 28), Mindhunters (March 1), Annapolis (March 2), Blade: Trinity (March 3) and The Gospel (March 4).
