Starz, Loews Scale Cathedral Walls With 'Pillars' Promotion


Starz Entertainment is teaming with Loews Hotels on a special promotional package to help tout the upcoming miniseries, ThePillars of the Earth .
The premium programmer, which will premiere the eight-installment programming event based on Ken Follett's best-selling novel on July 23, is working with Loews on a tourist deal this summer and fall in eight North American cities. The hotelier's guests signing up for "The Pillars of the Earth" package, beginning July 9 and extending through Oct. 3, will receive luxurious, overnight accommodations, a signed copy of Follett's novel, a guided tour of a local cathedral and a modern English breakfast for two, in room or in restaurant. The cost: $174 per night.
The package is available at the following Loews Hotels and cathedrals: Atlanta: Peachtree Christian Church; Montreal: Basilique Notre-Dame de Montreal; Nashville: Cathedral of the Incarnation; New York: The Cathedral of Saint John the Divine; Philadelphia: Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul; Quebec City: Basilique-Cathedrale Notre-Dame de Québec; Santa Monica, Calif.: Cathedral of our Lady of the Angels; and Washington D.C.: Washington National Cathedral.
The Pillars of the Earth is a sweeping tale of good and evil, treachery and intrigue, violence and beauty, set in 12th century England and a magnificent cathedral in Kingsbridge. The miniseries stars Ian McShane (Pirates of the Caribbean 4, HBO's Deadwood), Rufus Sewell (The Illusionist), Donald Sutherland (ABC's Dirty, Sexy, Money), Hayley Atwell (Captain America), Eddie Redmayne (2010 Tony winner for Red) and Matthew Macfadyen (Robin Hood).
The miniseries is directed by Sergio Mimica-Gezzan, and produced by Tandem Communications, Muse Entertainment, in association with Scott Free Films.
