Starz has tapped Spartacus creator Steven S. DeKnight, as well as
horror/Sci-Fi film producers J. Michael Straczynski and Roy Lee to develop
new original projects for the premium channel.
As part of an overall Starz DeKnight, the network will develop Incursion, a science fiction thriller that follows a squad of soldiers caught in a war against a hostile alien race, said the network.
Straczynski (Thor, Underworld: Awakening) along with Lee (The Ring, The Strangers) andRob Tapert (Spartacus), will team to develop Vlad Dracula, a spinoff of the classic vampire legend which blends the historical facts of the 15th century Prince of Wallachia, with the fictional Dracula, said the network.
"Steven DeKnight, J. Michael Straczynski, Roy Lee and Rob Tapert are
legendary talents, having created some of the most groundbreaking and
iconic television series with incredibly passionate fan bases the world
over," said Carmi Zlotnik, mangaging director of Starz. "We are thrilled to work with such sophisticated auteurs and
producers as we grow the slate of unique Starz original series."
