Starz! Trailers Hit the ‘FreeZone’

Starz Encore Group LLC is getting into the "FreeZone," cutting a deal with
Cox Communications Inc. to put Starz! movie trailers on the MSO’s free
long-format advertising on-demand service in San Diego.

Cox debuted the FreeZone platform in August 2002, offering longer-format
infomercials and promotional advertisements to customers free-of-charge.

The platform allows digital customers to stop, pause, rewind and fast-forward
the selections, and provides links that viewers can click on asking for more
information from the advertisers.

Adding the Starz! movie trailers to the lineup will give the on-demand
content provider access to a fair number of eyeballs, according to Megan
Reeder-Holman, director of affiliate marketing for Starz Encore's Cox
account.

"Early results from San Diego are very encouraging, indicating a better
sampling rate of our content than we expected with a strong base and frequency
of viewer interest," she said in a release. "We look forward to both making new
upgrade sales and gathering data to help us understand just how this tactic fits
into the broader consumer-marketing equation."
