Steve Lyons Joins NESN As Red Sox Studio Analyst

Steve Lyons is the latest Red Sox alum to be named studio analyst for NESN. Lyons will first appear on the network Friday, April 4 at 11:30 a.m. ET, during pre-game coverage of the Red Sox home opener.

Lyons, a member of the Red Sox throughout four separate stints (1981, 1985-1986, 1991, and 1992-1993), joins fellow former players Dennis Eckersley, Jim Rice and Tim Wakefield in the studio. Lyons will also team with studio host Tom Caron during Red Sox pre- and post-game shows, NESN Sports Today and additional original programming on the network.

“We are thrilled to have Steve join our team of veteran studio analysts. He brings incredible passion, experience, candor and depth of knowledge about Major League Baseball along with a familiarity with Boston as both a player and a broadcaster,” said NESN’s vice president of programming & production Joseph Maar in a release.

Lyons began his career in broadcasting with Fox national and regional networks in 1996, three years after retiring from the league. For the past nine years, Lyons has worked with the Los Angeles Dodgers as pre- and post-game host and game announcer.
