Stilson, Standage Join 'MCN'

Multichannel News has named Janet Stilson as special projects editor, a newly created position, effective immediately.

Also, Kathy Standage has been named director of technology advertising of the Reed Television Group, with responsibility for marketing Multichannel News, Broadcasting & Cable and related electronic products. She will also be involved with the Group's technology summits.

In her new role, Stilson will oversee the publication's ever-growing special features well. She will report directly to Multichannel News vice president of editorial content and editor-in-chief Marianne Paskowski.

"With her blue-chip credentials in both journalism and research, there is absolutely no person in the galaxy better suited for this position than Janet, and we all welcome her back with open arms," Paskowski said.

Stilson returns to the Multichannel News team after serving for several years as the principal in Stilson Strategies where she provided research, journalism and media communications strategies for a number of clients.

Earlier she had been the chief content officer and senior vice president for Myers Reports Inc.

Stilson worked at Multichannel News from 1991 to 2000 in a dual role as executive editor for the mother ship and as editor of a separate publication, Multichannel News International.

Prior to that she worked in various editorial capacities at the magazines Channels, Electronic Media and Variety.

Standage was previously vice president of North American sales for Pilat Inc. Prior to that, she held senior sales management positions at Internet providers IXL and Solbright.

From 1996 to 1999, Standage was director of sales and marketing for the National Digital Television Center. A Texas native, she spent over nine years at KENS-TV in San Antonio in sales and sales management. A graduate of Texas University at Austin, she holds a bachelor of science degree in radio, television and film.

"Kathy is a perfect fit for marketing our audiences of key decision makers to technology vendors, with experience ranging from broadcast sales, sales and marketing management (where she also was our customer), internet and new media expertise and recently as the head of sales for a software technology vendor — marketing sophisticated software to TV Stations, Groups and Networks," said Reed Television Group group publisher Chuck Bolkcom.

Standage will be based in Golden, Colo.
