Strong January for Scripps Networks

Scripps Networks’ robust January results helped to boost parent company The E.W. Scripps Co.

The programming unit posted a 28% revenue gain versus January 2004 to $61 million, with advertising revenue rising 31% and affiliate-fee revenue up 24%.

Scripps Networks includes Home & Garden Television, Food Network, Do It Yourself, Fine Living, Great American Country and HGTVPro.com, a business-to-business broadband channel launched in January.

And January revenue at Shop at Home, the company’s television retailing subsidiary, was up 21% to $31.5 million.

The parent company’s overall consolidated revenue for January rose 14% year-over-year to $185 million.
