Looking to jump-start viewership for Pax TV, NBC will debut the series Mysterious Ways in July and run six episodes before it moves over to the cable network.

The series, which stars Rae Dawn Chong and Adrian Pasdar, will premiere on NBC July 24 and remain there for its multi-episode preview until August. On Aug. 22, Mysterious Ways will move to its home on Pax TV.

NBC, which owns 32 percent of Pax TV, is hoping to increase sampling and exposure for Mysterious Ways by debuting it on the "Peacock Network." And the "shared premiere" helps NBC by providing it with "much-needed" new original programming for the summer, officials said.

Pax TV and NBC have already "repurposed" programming. Pax TV has aired reruns of NBC game show Twenty One just days after the episodes appeared on NBC.
