Study: Cable Modems Edge DSL in 2Q

Cable operators added about 858,600 high-speed-data subscribers in the second quarter, barely surpassing the 856,400 digital-subscriber-line customers added by phone companies, according to new research from Pike & Fischer's Communications Media Analysis Group.

Cable operators had approximately 28 million high-speed-data customers at the end of June, versus 17 million DSL subscribers reported by the telcos, the CMA Group said, adding that cable’s 55% share of the high-speed-data market is the lowest market share the industry has ever held.
