Broadband penetration is highest in the New England and Far West regions, according to a new study from Leichtman Research Group Inc.
Those two regions posted broadband penetration of 27.8% and 27.2%, respectively. The Mideast (25.1%) was the only other region to top the national average of 21.3%.
Regions coming in below the national average were Southwest (19.6%), Great Lakes (18.4%), Plains (18.4%), Southeast (18.2%) and Rocky Mountain (17.1%).
LRG said the top states as far as broadband penetration were Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and California, while the lowest marks were found in Mississippi, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming and New Mexico.
The research firm added that 23 states had broadband penetration above 20%, while three came in below 10%.
