New York-Multichannel News is pleased to announce that Matt Stump and Jose A. Martínez have joined the newspaper as contributing editor and special-projects editor, respectively.

In addition, David Cohen has been promoted to Web editor and Michael Demenchuk has been promoted to copy chief.

Stump, who had been at Cable World for the past nine years, most recently as its editorial director, will join Multichannel News Aug. 21. Stump, who will be based in Denver, will also serve as editor-at-large/special projects for Cahners' new Broadband Week magazine, which launches in September.

Prior to his stint at Cable World, he was with Broadcasting & Cable for 11 years.

Martínez, who is based in New York, had been an editor and writer for PrimeStar and Cableview magazines, as well as TV Guide.

Cohen, who had been assistant news editor for Multichannel News, and who has been with its New York office for the past five years, moves over to the electronic side to help beef up its popular Web site's expanded offerings.

Demenchuk, who had been assistant managing editor for the past year, also based in New York, moves up to copy chief.

"The two new staff additions and the two promotions are all a part of our ongoing effort to better serve our readers' ever-changing and complex needs in today's broadband space," Multichannel News editor in chief Marianne Paskowski said.

"So expect to see expanded coverage, both in print and on the electronic side, of the industry's exciting moves into a brave new world," she added.
