Suddenlink Communications, the St. Louis-based mid-sized operator, said it has reached an agreement to acquire about 8,200 subscribers in and around Greenwood, Miss., from Windjammer Communications, for an undisclosed sum.

The system is about 50 miles west of an existing Suddenlink property in Greenville, Miss.

New York cable investment banker Waller Capital served as exclusive financial adviser to Windjammer. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter.

Windjammer was formed in 2008 by Boston private equity firm MAST Capital Management and Jupiter, Fla.-based small cable operator Communications Construction Services, specifically to purchase 80,000 subscribers from Time Warner Cable in about 25 different states. The company now provides video, voice and data services to about 60,000 customers in 19 states.

Suddenlink has about 1.3 million residential customers Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, West Virginia, and elsewhere.
